A few sunny intervals between the showers so back to Spit Beach to try and catch some flight pictures of the Black Redstarts. 200 exposures resulted in nothing worth showing. They transitioned so quickly from sitting to insect chasing that my geriatric reflexes couldn't keep up. A new strategy is required. As a consolation prize I took the rather nice image below.
The Chiffchaff also joined in the insect chasing so I had to include him.

After two abortive attempts I finally caught up with the Glossy Ibis at Chapel Amble. On Monday I had a blow out on a brand new tyre at Bodmin and on Wednesday the bird wasn't there. But this morning it was in a small marshy area just off the road opposite the car park. Will had beaten  me to it and was filming when I arrived. We watched the bird for about an hour and a half when it suddenly flew off into the field behind the car park.

What a beautiful day. Warm sun, little wind and Spit Beach all to myself for an hour and a half. I finally caught up with a male Black Redstart and the three females that were there. If you add in the Robins, a Blackcap, a Wren, Chiffchaffs and Rock Pipits it made a very pleasant morning.

The afternoon brought a very quiet Walmsley the highlight of which was this very accommodating Kestrel

Finally the Ring-necked Duck at Par Beach Pool made a reasonably close swim by and then returned to the back of the pool..

At last a fine day even though there were a few sharp showers necessitating throwing my coat over the camera and having to brave the hail..
At Par Beach Pool the Ring-necked Duck was still present but staying at a considerable distance. The Little Gull was still there but choosing to stay right over in the back corner.
On Spit Beach at the usual place there were two female Black Redstarts and one Male, the latter being the first I have seen there.
